work work work

1st day back from half term and dean & graham tore my texture to shreds but its all good it made me work that little bit harder. i need to completly redo my normal map and possibly the specular for the body.

but anyways heres a comparison of the diffuse from last week till now

this aint no LA gang war

So I've just about finished the normal/specular maps, I've also imported my body into the marmoset engine by 8monkey labs which is a really cool enviroment for displaying models. final task for today was that I have started to think about the team colours.

Lighting and specular test

Ok so 2 posts in a day thats a record for me.

I've spent today getting the diffuse finished and I've also done a basic specular by desaturaing each layer and playing with brightness and contrast. The results so far aren't bad, but I still need to work in to it a bit more by hand.

I've also done a quick video render with a single spotlight rotating around my character so i could see how the specular and shadows were working, take a look....

getting there

Well todays been quite productive, working around having a 3 day old son has been an expierience but I've managed. I have redone the top again and this time I think I'm finally getting there with the folds and creases, I have also started to work on the skin for the arms, I'm not 100% sure I've gone about it the right way but it kind of matches the tone of the face.

All I need to figure out now is painting in the muscules without them looking like a 70's hannah barbera artist painted it, I added a tattoo on the arm to take your eyes away from the skin but now I've mentioned it you'll look at the skin lol.

Finally today I began to texture the armbands and the knife again I'm not 100% happy with them but they will do for now.

i dont have a lot of options i'm catholic i thought you'd be happy

So today I have done a bit of work trying to get as much done before the baby arrives.

I've added folds to the jeans and vest, I have also redone the eyes by taking a close up of my eyes whilst giving my best scowl and blening it in to the picture, I added a bit of specular to the face which is working quite well. Next up I need to start texturing the arms which I can see being fun. I've deleted alot of my body texture layout and re-unwrapped alot of the model to get it to fit in better and I'm definately happier with the results.

the clothes make the man

Today I are mostly been texturing denim. So yeah I've started to texture the body today I rendered out an occlusion map which I'm not happy with but will do another soon. I have laid out the base colours for my texture and begun to build up a texture so far I have only started on the jeans but thier starting to get somewhere, I need to start painting in some folds but anyway enough ramblings heres the all important images.
